
Sustainable Funding Through the Establishment of Independent Forest Monitoring (IFM) Fund
All proposed activities aim to maintain the SVLK as a credible and accountable system through regular and periodic monitoring activities. To ensure these objectives, there is a need for sufficient funding for monitoring activities managed through a trust fund institution.
The funding support will be directed to support [1]the establishment and operation of trust funds that function to support SVLK monitoring activities and improve governance by independent monitors; [2]Raising resources for independent monitors [3]Testing the system for distributing grants [4]Preparing programs and strategic plans for independent monitors as important actors in SVLK implementation in Indonesia.
The main target of this activity is civil society organizations and local / indigenous community groups that are actively monitoring the implementation of the SVLK. In addition, the government, donor agencies and other parties have the potential to provide funding support for independent monitors.
In general, the objective of this activity is to strengthen and operationalize fund management institutions for independent monitors so that independent monitors can play an active role in strengthening the VLK system and improving forest governance in Indonesia.
While the specific objectives to be achieved are:
- Establish an institutional structure of fund management and the availability of a mechanism for distributing grants for monitoring and improving forest governance
- Build a strategy of joint work between fund management institutions and independent monitors in the context of strengthening forest monitoring systems in Indonesia
- Raising resources with the government, donor agencies and other parties, which has the potential to provide funding support for independent monitors
- Test the distribution system of grant funds to support the activities of independent monitors.
The expected results in this project proposal are:
- Terbentuknya struktur kelembagaan dan tersediannya mekanisme pendistribusian dana untuk melayani kegiatan-kegiatan pemantauan dan perbaikan tata kelola hutan oleh pemantau independen.
- The formulation of a joint strategic plan to support the work of independent monitoring institutions / networks in efforts to strengthen the forest monitoring system in Indonesia.
- Commitment to the government, donor agencies and other parties has the potential to provide funding support for independent monitors.
- Distribution of funding grants to support monitoring activities, capacity building, campaigns & advocacy, and consolidation activities of independent monitors.
- Establishment of an Independent Monitoring Fund Management Institution.
